Burn Day at Erin Hills

by Zach Reineking

This morning was Burn Day at Erin Hills, as we undertook some controlled burns that help stimulate the regrowth of native plant species while controlling invasive plants. This practice also creates a great habitat for wildlife during the upcoming season as animals will be able to travel more easily through these areas and will benefit in foraging when the areas begin to regrow. To achieve this result in a safe manner, we waited for a wind from the south/southeast and started the burn near the 1st green and let the wind move it north towards the 1st tees.
